Oman/Omán

* Nature at it` s most brilliant * Witnessing the rare and incredible phenomenon of a turtle nesting on the beach is mind blowing. Little is known actually over why some turtles lay eggs on some beaches and not in others. A green female turtle making several strokes at a time with her powerful flippers covers her nest eggs with sand. In a trance-like state she would rest between deep hissing breaths and go for another round while tears stream from her eyes. Legend has it that she is crying over abandoning her eggs and never knowing her off-spring. The scientific explanation is less romantic; she is secreting salt that accumulates in her body. Oman has a strict legislation and the sultanate is actually in the top 10 countries with best practices in turtle conservation. =====Turtle-watching rules==== Turtles are easily disturbed. When watching such a natural spectacle, be sensitive and do not disturb or intrude upon by following these guidelines: •Do not make any noise or disturb their peace. •Do not use flash photography, as the lights unsettle the nesting turtles. •Do not touch the turtles or their eggs. •Do not stay overnight on the beach. •Do not leave any litter.
